The client is an electro-mechanical panel manufacturer specialising in control systems — MCC, PCC and PLC panels — for sewage and wastewater treatment plants. Each plant they build for has its own process layout: pumps, blowers, dosing systems, level and flow instruments, all of which have to be mapped into a control scheme before a single panel component is ordered.
The Challenge
The client manufactured control panels for water treatment plants but needed a technical partner who could go beyond simply supplying components. They wanted someone to help navigate PLC selection, I/O planning and programming for each project — without the usual back-and-forth delays that slow down panel builds. Sourcing hardware from one vendor and chasing technical support from another was costing them time on every project.
The Solution
Shree Vijayvargiya Technologies worked alongside the client from the earliest stage of each project, handling:
- I/O identification — mapping out digital and analog I/O requirements specific to each plant's process, typically around 250 digital I/O points and 10 analog I/O points per project, varying by scope.
- Feature and product selection — recommending the right Omron PLC configuration for each application.
- Pricing support — helping the client plan costs accurately for each build.
- Timely delivery — keeping panel manufacturing on schedule.
- Programming support — providing PLC programming assistance without the delays or access barriers the client had run into elsewhere.
The Result
What started as a single project has grown into a repeat partnership — SVT has since supported 2–3 additional similar water treatment panel projects, with more currently under discussion. Beyond PLCs, the client now also sources miscellaneous automation requirements through SVT, saving them time and reducing the hassle of managing multiple vendors.
Why They Chose SVT
- Full-cycle technical support, from I/O planning through to programming.
- Omron authorized supply with configuration guidance, not just catalogue selection.
- Reliable delivery timelines critical to panel manufacturing schedules.
- A single point of contact for both core PLC needs and miscellaneous sourcing.
Products Involved
Depending on plant size and I/O count, projects were configured around the Omron CP series and CJ series controllers, supported by panel components such as relays, timers and SMPS units, plus Omron HMI where operator visualisation was part of the scope.
Why I/O Planning Comes First
On a treatment plant panel, the I/O list decides everything downstream — CPU choice, expansion modules, rack space, panel size and finally cost. Getting that list right at the quotation stage avoids the two most expensive mistakes in panel building: an under-specified controller that cannot take the last few points, and an over-specified one that quietly loses the order on price. This is why SVT engages before the BOM is frozen, not after.
